Crochet Shell Stitch Dishcloth Plus Table Runner Pattern

The crochet shell stitch kicks off our journey to crochet a dishcloth each month using a different crochet stitch. This set, named January Snow, includes a lacy dishcloth and gorgeous table runner both using the crochet shell stitch. We especially love how the shell stitch pop next to solid sections of double crochet on the table runner. And this stitch creates a nice frilly edging, as well.

This crochet shell stitch creates a dishcloth that is simple, elegant and lacy. This open work design is very drapey and flexible. It’s especially well suited for washing cups and glasses and strong enough to handle pots and pans, too.

About the January Snow Crochet Dishcloth Pattern

We’ve rated this pattern easy. It’s very approachable for those who know how to single crochet and double crochet. It’s worked primarily in rows with edging worked in the round.

Dishcloth and Plant Holder Pattern

Who says dishcloths have to be square? This month’s dishie pattern is a beautiful pentagonal cloth made from FibraNatura Good Earth distributed by Universal Yarns. Though I stopped with an 8″ dishcloth, it could be made in any size. It’s the perfect dishcloth for washing and scrubbing as well as gift giving.

This lovely dishcloth would also be great as a doily or as a hot pad.

I fell in love with this design so much, I decided to turn it into a plant holder! The plant holder starts with a pentagonal base, with the side supports crocheted around that. Because of the design, it can hold various sized pots a little smaller or larger than 1.46 quarts.

Plants make a house so homey. Plant some ivy or perhaps some spices. Turn your kitchen into a living space!

Finished Measurements:

  • Dishcloth: 8″
  • Plant Holder: 26 x 4 1/2″, holds a 1.46 qt pot

NatCroMo 2016 – Crochetville Tour

National Crochet Month – Crochetville Blog Tour 2016

All Aboard NatCroMo Crochetville Blog Tour

If you’ve hopped on the train for the Crochetville.com blog tour, Welcome! We’re glad you’ve stopped by for a visit. There will be giveaways and interviews with yarn experts all month long…so be sure to visit Crochetville for the latest deets.

As part of the Crochetville tour, we shared a bit about our travel experiences. We haven’t traveled a ton, but I (Dana) enjoyed visiting Deborah when she was a school teacher in China and was sad I couldn’t visit her when she was teaching in Bolivia. And alas, we didn’t become crochet addicts until after Deborah returned to the states so missed the opportunity to buy fibers from international vendors. A few of our designs have been inspired by our travels. Check out the Bamboo Blanket and Chinese New Year cup cozy for a couple examples.
