February 2026 Classes

I, Dana, am teaching 2 classes in February 2026. Must be a member of Sew-n-Sews to take the classes. It’s a fun guild that offers sewing, quilting and other craft classes, presentations, and meet-ups.

Crochet Chevron Class

No experience necessary to take this crochet chevron class. Students will learn how to chain, single crochet and make a chevron stitch sampler. We will talk about how to read a pattern and students will go home with the pattern for the clutch.

Class is February 18 from 1-5 pm. Message me in Facebook for more information.

Notebook Cover (no sew) and Pen Holder (Sewing) Class

Bring your own fabric and learn how to make a no sew notebook cover. Bring a bit more fabric and make a pen holder bookmark for the notebook. We’ll be covering composition notebooks with gorgeous fabrics to make one-of-a-kind notebooks. This is a beginner friendly class. I can’t wait to see what everyone makes!

October 2025 Crochet Classes

Back by popular demand, I (Dana) am teaching a granny square class this October. We had a “beat the heat” class in August which was a lot of fun. The snowbirds are back in town, so we’re stitching the granny square once again.

In addition to the granny square class, I’ll be teaching a class for the crochet chevron stitch. We’ll discuss the different looks of crocheting in both stitches or back loop only.

Both the granny square and crochet chevron classes are open to all members of Sew’n Sews sewing club in Sun Lakes, AZ. I love that this is a group of sewists that are bi-craftual…they love to sew and dabble in other crafts.

Beat the heat this summer by taking a couple craft classes with me. It’s open to all members of Sew’n Sew’s sewing group that meets in Sun Lakes, Az. Ping me for more information.

Granny Square – Crochet Class August 25

Learn how to crochet the granny square. This is a fun class for first time crocheters and those needing a refresher on the granny square. Bring 2 to 5 skeins of medium worsted weight yarn and I/9/5.5 m crochet hook (I recommend Susan Bates).

Playing Card Holder – Sewing Class August 11

If you love playing cards but want to play hands free, this is the perfect card holder for you! It has 5 rows of pockets (no center seam), it’s slanted, weighted and folds flat when not in use. You will cut fabric before class and learn how to sew it all together and go home with a completed card holder.

Owl Cup Cozy

Owl Cup CozySaturday, 9:00am-11:00am, Tent 1, Kit Carson Park, $35, no materials fee, limit 30 students

Woo loves coffee?! (or tea or coco?) Crochet your own cup cozy that will keep an eye on your drink. We’ll take a basic cozy and dress it up with large eyes, a petite beak and 3D wings made using the Crocodile Stitch.

Students to provide: 50 yds ea worsted weight yarn in 2 coordinating colors, 2 yds black yarn, 20 yds white yarn, 5 yds yellow (colors of choice may be substituted), appropriate size crochet hook

Skills: Intermediate crocheter, must know how to ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc, trc, crochet in rows & in the round, inc, dec, crochet in both, front & back loops.

Broomstick Lace Scarf

Broomstick Lace ScarfSaturday, 11:30am-1:30pm, Tent 1, Kit Carson Park, $35, no materials fee, limit 30 students

We’ll take you through combining traditional broomstick lace with “drop stitch”, or single stranded broomstick lace to create this light and airy scarf. Your friends will think you knit it.

Students to provide: 200 yds of Wool/Silk Blend or the like (light weight yarn with good drape), crochet hooks F, G, or H – just one, using a size slightly larger than yarn calls for, knitting needle – (1) #50 / 25 mm and (1) #17 / 12.75mm

Skills: Intermediate crocheter, must know how to ch, sl st, sc, crochet in rows, crochet in both and back loops, have at least tried Broomstick Lace (video link-please practice before class)
