Commissions of Finished Pieces

Do we sell our finished pieces? Alas, we do not. But I’m sure you know someone or someone you know knows someone. Ask around.

  • Family member
  • Extended family member
  • Someone at work
  • Someone at church
  • Neighbor
  • Friend
  • Friend of a friend
  • Someone in our club or interest group

Find someone? We recommend that you do a short interview with the person. Gently ask to see samples of their work and ask about the comfort level in making what you want. We’ve heard stories of people asking for complicated projects from people that don’t have the skills. So, make sure their up to the task.

Now…let’s talk money. You should consider paying for time and materials. This can be uncomfortable to talk about, but it’s essential to set expectations for both you and them. Some will refuse money because this really is a hobby they enjoy sharing. Consider gifting them a gift card or other small token of appreciation. However, others may be sacrificing time away from family and other obligations to create this item for you. Negotiate a price that is satisfactory to both of you.

If you absolutely couldn’t find someone to make something for you…we recommend browsing websites like Etsy that will have shops with handmade items.

If that doesn’t work…watch a few YouTube videos and learn to make it yourself. It’ll be fun!
