With the hat and just one stick of dynamite, your kids will explode. Well, their imaginations will after you crochet this mining set! Safety is important, so you may want to start with the hard hat with head lamp. As they make their way through the tunnels and mines, they’ll need to see where they’re going and where to set the dynamite.

Crochet a long wire to attach the dynamite to the detonator box so they aren’t too close to the blast. Last, but not least, whip together a wooden dynamite crate so they can haul their explosives to the job site and store their dynamite for later use.

Hard Hat – One Size Fits All*

The hard hat with head lamp has an adjustable strap inside (just like real construction hats) so it fits almost everyone’s head. It’s adjustable for 2 year olds all the way up to mom (adult women) with a single button. *For newborn and baby sizes, crochet in baby yarn.

This pattern is calls for crochet in the round. Use super bulky yarn (7) or two strands of yarn at once.

Create as big of a bang as you want with this dynamite pattern. Whether it’s one stick or twenty, you’re sure to get the job done.

This pattern calls for crochet in the round. This project is small enough, you may be able to use up some scraps of yarn from your stash!

Detonator Box

To light up the really big jobs, you’ll want to use a long wire and blasting box. Like a real detonator box, the handle really moves up and down. There’s a strap for carrying the box to and from the job site. There are also two wing nuts (that really twist) for attaching the wire to the box.

This pattern calls for creating cozies around cardboard. A wavy pattern is used to give the box a wood grain feel. The handle of the box is created with a dowel rode and chop stick. A couple of buttons for the wing nuts and you’re ready to start blasting!

Wood Dynamite Crate

For the dynamite enthusiast, we’ve created a wooden storage crate. This pattern also calls for creating cozies around cardboard. Use two shades of beige to get an authentic wood grain pattern! Crochet a few screws, a couple of hinges and some lettering and you’re box really looks like a wooden dynamite crate! There are also instructions for creating cord handles for the sides of your crate.
